ILP Speaks at MA BESE Meeting

The Intergenerational Literacy Program, a CPS program that supports adults in achieving their educational goals, was invited to speak at a Massachusetts Board of Elementary and Secondary Education meeting on Tuesday. Ana Tizol, a learner pursuing her high school equivalency diploma, accompanied by her high school equivalency instructor, Priscilla Vele, spoke on a panel about adult education. Ana moved the room to tears as she shared her story of strength and perseverance. She crossed the border eight months pregnant at the age of 17 in 2004. She learned to read and write in English at the ILP before she learned to read and write in Spanish. She has been at the ILP on and off since 2005. Currently, she is enrolled in ILP high school equivalency classes with goal of becoming a school nurse. Her goal for her family is to see her children graduate from high school and college.
